Au

Just arrived back from Phoenix, AZ for a fun and exciting book signing event with Dr. Steven I. Dahl, author of "Chicken Fried Steak," ISBN13: 978-0-9824461-3-3. What a successful event! Great friends, family, former patients as well as passerbys came in to hear his talk. Check out our FB page to view the pictures!

Ebooks!

I just arrived back from a fabulous Publishing Seminar in NYC. The topics surrounded ebooks and what it means for authors and publishers today and in the future.

One of the most challenging issues facing not only authors and publishers but software developers as well, is deciding which platform to make their titles and applications available. The fierce fight for market share among hardware developers like Amazon with the Kindle, Barnes and Noble with the Nook, Sony with the e-reader, etc., means that they have their own proprietary formats in which publishers have to adhere to.

The future looks encouraging though, as many of these hardware devices will evolve to include the "touch" system and other Apple technology. This could mean that users will be able to download any title or application built in a universal digital format for any device users find useful at that time.

Fellow Authors!

Just a quick tip from one who has been in the business for more than 20 years!

Now that you have written your manuscript, rewrote it several times, and have reread it hundreds of times, you should keep in mind that not even best selling authors have written a perfect manuscript without the help of experienced editors. It is important to hire a seasoned editor with at least 10 years experience and have published work of their own.

Before committing to one, you should always ask to see a sample first. Send them two or three pages of your work and get a sense of what they can do for you. Experienced Editors-copy editors and/or ghost writers-can help you get your novel, memoir, or non-fiction work perfected!

Sweet Dreams Publishing has many experienced copy editors to choose from. We match our authors with a copy editor specific to your genre and writing style.

Please call or email us for help finding the right copy editor for you.

Announcing Sweet Dreams Publishing of Massachusetts

A quick story about me:

My name is Lisa Akoury-Ross. I am a 20-year veteran in the book-making and publishing industries. I grew up in a family business that provides full publication services for some of the largest publishers in the world. Specializing full project management including working with authors, providing copy editing & proofreading services, custom cover & interior design, and preparing printer-ready files, we provide all the tools necessary to get a book professionally edited, designed and published.

Shortly after publishing my own work—a unique Mediterranean cookbook entitled, "New American Cuisine for Today's Family: Fresh Ideas to Prepare Healthy Mediterranean Meals in Under 30 Minutes" (ISBN 13: 978-0-9824461-1-9), I realized I could help other authors (new and seasoned) self-publish their work quickly and cost-effectively. To learn more about my cookbook you can find it on Amazon.com, BN.com and on my website at the link below.
